Front Garden Design - Forest Row
"John’s experience and knowledge of plants has been invaluable."
The clients wanted a new bespoke terrace in front of their Arts and Crafts style house, with a central planting area of white flowers. The planting needed to have year-round interest as it can be viewed from the sitting room. The planting palette includes:
-
Rose Winchester Cathedral
-
Peony ‘Duchesse de Nemours’
-
White Astrantias
-
Allium ‘Mount Everest’
A shady area near to the boundary needed a retaining wall, which was constructed using an attractive sandstone, sourced from a local quarry. It blended very well with the fossil sandstone paving used on the terrace. The area was planted with shade–loving plants, including ferns, Martagon Lillies, Hostas, Hellebores and Sarcococca.
A set of steps was cut into the existing bank to give easier access to the raised lawn.
John’s experience and knowledge of plants has been invaluable in establishing a garden that provides year-round interest, as well as one that works with the natural environment.
